Only 3 People Turned Up To My Instagram Live… Here’s What I Did:
Last week I did an Instagram live… and only 3 people showed up.
How many of you can relate? Sometimes it feels like you’re speaking and it’s crickets out there – no one is joining, engaging, commenting, liking.
It can be hard when you go live. You’re so distracted by who’s joining, how many people have joined, wondering why someone has dropped off the live.
When you’re a leader, you stop taking everything so personally.
The trick is, you have to show up as if there are 100,000 people are in front of you.
Yes, only 3 people showed up. But that’s 3 people, 3 heartbeats, 3 incredible businesses.
When you put yourself out there and you’re not getting the engagement back that you want – think about what type of person you want to be.
Do you want to be the person that only shows up when there are 100,000’s of people listening?
Or do you want to be the person that shows up the same whether there’s 10 or 100,000 of people listening?
How you show up when there is nobody watching is going to tell me exactly how successful you will be. If you can show up in front of one person with the same amount of passion, drive and energy, that person is going to tell their friends about you, and that 1 person will turn into 5, and those 5 into 50… This is how business works in 2023.
If you’re chasing viral content, likes and the magic pill thats going to get you 1000’s of followers, you’re slowing down your success.
The ONLY way to build credibility, trust and to get people in the industry talking about you is to show up with the audacity that you already have 100,000 people in your audience. Don’t wait for these people to arrive.
Here’s what I didn’t do when 3 people showed up:
I didn’t tell myself that the live was shit
I ddind’t tell myself that the content was boring
I didn’t tell myself that nobody cared what I have to say
Here’s what I did do:
I showed up as if there were 100,000 people listening
I messaged the 3 people who watched live
I nurtured these micro-relationships
