In order to create more trust, visibility, interest and revenue – it’s not just about jumping on video, it’s about doing it well.
I’m sharing a checklist of the things you must think about when creating video content and most importantly, how to create with CONFIDENCE.
Video can feel intimidating and clunky for a lot of people – which is why it’s so important to practice.
When you’re on video you can see their energy, how they present themselves and how confident they are – all of these things fast track trust.
Think about it. If you were to follow someone and only see their grid full of static images, it’s going to take you so much longer to buy something from that person vs. someone who is going live regularly, sharing reels regularly etc.
Your job as a business owner and sales director is to 1. get people into your world and 2. get them to know, like and trust you QUICKLY. Video content is an incredible way to do that.
Here’s what you need to be thinking about when you’re creating video content and how to create it with CONFIDENCE.
Prep what you want to say!
What is the breakthrough that you want for your client? What are going through right now? What impacts are they not seeing? How would you fix it?
You want to storytell and take them on a journey. If people don’t understand what your point is, they’ll keep scrolling.
Remember, you don’t have to memorise it, you can have your notes up whilst you record! In order to respect your followers and clients time, prepare and make sure you are delivering snappy content that’s keeping their attention.
Use the power of 3 in your framework e.g. “3 things you need to think about if you want to blow up your business strategy”. Give clear, easy to follow steps.
Get to know what your audience NEEDS – there’s no point sharing a video which isn’t going to help your audience.
Think of your content like paid content. There’s this misconception that you shouldn’t overdeliver on your free content, but I disagree. Prepare your content as if you’re being paid for it and PACK IF WITH VALUE.
Review your content before you post it with this checklist:
Lighting – make sure your face is lit! You don’t need a full production team to have good lightning. Grab a ring light on Amazon or stand in a window with good natural light. This will make a massive difference to the quality of your video.
Body language – where are you positioned in relation to the camera? Can people see your shoulders? Can people see your hands? Are you using your hands? Where are your eyes looking? Are your shoulders rolled back? Are you leading with the heart? Body language is so important. 95% of communication is through body language. Practice what it looks like to stand with confidence.
Present yourself – this isn’t going to be the most popular opinion… If you’re expecting people to pay premium prices for your services, you can’t be showing up in your pj’s every day with a messy bun. If you want people to pay premium prices, take pride in your appearance and watch as it translates through your confidence.
The biggest mistake that I see people make is not showing up with positive energy on stories. If you’re using your Instagram stories like a voice-note to your friends to offload – don’t do it. There needs to be a differentiation between how you’d show up on your business and personal account. Be authentic, but don’t spend your time moaning – this is going to affect your sales. Before posting, ask yourself – is this going to get a potential client closer to investing or further away? And be really honest. If it’s going to get you further away, don’t post it.
Remember, if you are a service based business, you’re NOT an influencer so your content will be different. When people purchase from you, they want buy with confidence that you’re going to deliver (so don’t be talking about how tired you are, how you can’t catch a break etc).
Keep it punchy – you want it as short and value packed as possible. If you can say the SAME THING in LESS WORDS, this exudes confidence.
